Manual Lymph Drainage

Manual lymph drainage is carried out to make bodily fluids (e.g. lymph, connective tissue fluid, venous blood) flow. As a result, waste products are removed from the connective tissue, the metabolic situation is improved, and impediments to flow removed. Furthermore, manual lymph drainage activates the immune system.

Applications for manual lymph drainage:

  • sport accidents: sprains, contusions (bruises) and tears (as an acute measure to reduce swelling).
  • orthopedic operations: hematomas are dissolved and removed; severed lymph channels are regenerated. Manual lymph drainage reduces muscular tension and improves the mobility of the extremities after surgery.
  • treatment of scars and burns: manual lymph drainage softens the scar and promotes improved scar remodeling. In burn patients, blister formation is lessened if lymph drainage is performed immediately.
