Active CPM CAMO®ped

Trauma to the knee, and/or the surgery itself, impairs the correct function of receptors in the knee joint area. The receptors normally provide information such as positioning of the joint, movements and mechanical loads, and are essential for purposeful muscular activities.

Impairment to the receptors can also be associated to immobilization of the knee joint: the longer the immobilization, the greater the impairment.

Correct functioning of an anatomical joint depends on the appropriate performance of joint-related muscles. If certain receptors that are normally involved fail to provide signals (e.g. when the ACL is ruptured), the remaining receptors need to compensate in order to initiate the desired action. To become proficient, the body has to re-learn perception of movement by following controlled movement patterns.

You can do it, and CAMO®ped will assist you!

The lack of proper perception of movements and positions of the body based on input from receptors, or short "the proprioceptive deficit", can be reduced or even eliminated through active interaction of signal perception, signal processing and motor reaction. That, however, requires active movement and purposeful practice.

Please contact your physician to obtain CAMO®ped for home therapy.
